Job Summary
The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing and serving meals, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, and adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards. This role plays a key part in ensuring nutritious and appealing meals are provided to clients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Meal Preparation and Service: Assist in preparing, cooking, and serving meals in accordance with planned menus and portion control guidelines.
- Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen, dining, and storage areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and cookware; wipe down surfaces; sweep and mop floors; and dispose of trash appropriately.
- Food Safety Compliance: Follow all food safety regulations, including proper storage, handling, and labeling of food items. Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Inventory Management: Monitor food and kitchen supply inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and check deliveries for accuracy. Store items in designated areas and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
- Client Interaction: Serve meals to clients in a respectful and courteous manner, addressing any dietary needs or restrictions as outlined in the program’s guidelines.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, stoves, dishwashers) safely and responsibly, performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred.
- Food Safety Certification: Current food handler’s certificate or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks related to food preparation and cleaning.
Work Schedule
This is a full time position with shifts that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
