GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION: This position is under the supervision of the Substance Abuse Director and Program Manager. This position will provide substance abuse treatment services for clients who have a documented history of drug and/or alcohol abuse. This position participates in preparing case histories and record, group and individual facilitation, release planning, referrals and other duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to utilize NJSAMS reports (DASIE, Admission, LOCI, ASI, Discharge) and Ticket Management
- Conduct Phone Pre-Screens, Screening, and Intakes
- Ability to perform activities such as monitor drug screens, knowledge of Breathalyzer, monitors self-administration of medications, etc.
- Provide planned treatment activities, including individual and group sessions
- Participate as a member of the treatment team
- Working with clients and preparing individual treatment plans
- Discussing problems with other treatment personnel, and making appropriate referrals
- Assisting clients in addressing their needs and obtaining their cooperation to continue individualized treatment
- Participating in mandatory training and staff development sessions
- All full time Counselor Intern employees will be required to participate in 50 hours of supervision by licensed staff during the course of one (1) year period. OR
- All less than full time Counselor Intern employees will be required to participate in 25 hours of supervision by licensed staff during the course of one (1) year period.
- Supervision will be conducted by way of 25 hours of group supervision consisting of 2 or more participants.
- Also 25 hours of individual supervision during the course of a year, as defined in N.J.A.C. 13:34C.
- Ensuring that the duties of this position are performed in accordance with contract requirements and Company standards
- Performing all other work-related duties as assigned by the Clinical Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires a BA degree in a social science and one to two years of relevant case work experience with an adult substance abuse clientele
- Counselor Intern will pursue a CADC or LCADC from an accredited institution with proof of attaining the certification within three (3) years of employment
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
